There are two main sets of ingredients you need to make compost, plus a little air and some water.
- The greens, which are nitrogen producers and contain all the water you should need to add to your compost, as the green name suggests these items tend to be fleshy plant materials.
- The browns, which are carbon producers and again as the name suggests these tend to be brown woody, paper and card types of materials.
There are also other biodegradable items that can be successfully cold composted and, more importantly, the things you should not add, this means not only non biodegradebale items, I mean it, you just dont want to go there.
Remember, the key to successful composting is,
"if in doubt, leave it out".
